Riding Lessons for Kids and Adults
Kids' Riding Lessons
Young riders learn to ride, groom, and care for horses in a setting built around safety and confidence. Lessons move at each child's pace, and riders who catch the bug can move on to our youth horse camps or start showing in 4-H and local open shows.
Adult Riding Lessons
It is never too late to learn. We teach adult beginners who have never sat on a horse, and riders returning after years away. Adult lessons are one-on-one and unhurried, with no pressure to keep up with a class, so you can build real confidence in the saddle on your own timeline.

Owner and instructor Carmen Hurley is a John Lyons Certified trainer who has been competing since the 1980s and building confident riders in Evansville since 1997. Every rider gets hands-on instruction from someone who has been in the show ring herself.

What ages do you teach?
We teach riders of all ages, from young children to adults. Every lesson is tailored to the rider's age, comfort level, and goals.
Do I need any riding experience?
Not at all. We welcome complete beginners and work at a pace that builds confidence, as well as experienced riders looking to sharpen their skills or prepare for competition.
Do I need my own horse?
No. We have gentle, well-trained lesson horses, so you can learn without owning a horse. If you do have your own, you're welcome to ride it in your lessons.
Do you teach English or western?
Both. Most of our riders start in western, which is the most popular style around Evansville, and we also teach hunt seat and English. Owner Carmen Hurley is a John Lyons Certified trainer with decades of show experience in both disciplines and will help you find the right fit.
Do you offer horseback riding lessons for adults?
Yes. Adults are welcome at any experience level, whether you rode as a kid and want to get back in the saddle or you have never been on a horse. Adult lessons are taught one-on-one at whatever pace feels comfortable, with no pressure to keep up with anyone else.

Night Sun Stables is at 2601 Night Sun Dr on the north side of Evansville, Indiana, serving Evansville, Newburgh, and the surrounding communities. Our indoor arena means lessons continue year-round, rain or shine.
